Our Story
The Grain of the Legacy: Three Generations of Sawdust and Service
The air in our Ohio manufacturing shop doesn’t just smell of sawdust; it smells of history. It’s the sharp, sweet scent of Maple wood mixed with the deep, earthy undertone of seasoned Oak—a fragrance that has defined three generations of our family business, all rooted in the quiet, unrelenting ambition of our grandfather.
Our story begins in 1989, though its foundations were laid much earlier. Grandpa was, by all accounts, a man of earth and muscle. He grew up on a small-town Amish farm, learning the value of hard work under the vast Ohio sky. But for nearly three decades, his hands—hands that could coax life from soil—were dedicated to a different craft: he was the local butcher. Twenty-seven years he spent behind the block, meticulously breaking down cuts, serving the local community, and earning an honest wage.
But the rhythm of the cleaver was not the rhythm of his dream.
Grandpa had always harbored a quiet longing to work from home, to build something tangible and lasting for his family. He sought a craft that required patience, precision, and a deep respect for natural resources—qualities he had honed on the farm and at the butcher’s block. In 1989, he took the leap: he bought a wood turning lathe.
That year was a relentless blur of dedication. Grandpa would rise before dawn to work at the butcher shop, spending his days surrounded by steel and ice. Then, as dusk settled, he would retreat to his small garage workshop. With the aid of his new woodworking copy lathe, he began to turn his first products: walking canes. Each cane was a study in repetition and quality, perfectly honed and polished, embodying the idea that utility and beauty could coexist. He worked through the evenings, often until the moon hung high over the fields, slowly building a small clientele separate from his day job.
The business was born of necessity and sweat equity.

The Turn of the Century, The Turn of the Leg
After a few years of careful, double-duty labor, Grandpa realized the potential of the lathe had been barely scratched. While canes were respectable, the true artistry in turning lay in furniture components. This realization led to the next crucial step in our evolution: the creation of Queen Anne legs.
These legs demanded an even higher degree of finesse—the graceful curve, the elegant foot, the symmetry expected in fine period furniture. The Queen Anne leg became his signature.
But producing world-class furniture components wasn’t enough. Grandpa quickly ran into a common manufacturing challenge: he needed a reliable outlet to sell these meticulously turned legs consistently. He needed to control the final vision.
The solution was simple, yet transformative: we would start making the chairs that use these legs.
This pivot didn’t just expand our product line; it defined our identity. We were no longer just a component supplier; we became craftsmen creating entire pieces of exquisite furniture where every element, from the sturdy frame to the perfectly finished leg, was under our quality control. From that point on, powered by the success of our handcrafted chairs, the business grew steadily, moving from a garage operation to the small, specialized manufacturing facility we now operate.
Rooted in Ohio, Built for Generations
Today, three generations later, we carry the torch Grandpa lit back in 1989. The rhythmic hum of the machinery is louder now, and the shop is bigger, but the core values remain unchanged. We are a small manufacturer in Ohio, dedicated to the belief that the best things take time.
In a world driven by speed and inexpensive flimsy imports, our mission is simple: Quality, Service, and Reasonable Prices.
Quality: We are fiercely committed to using American materials. We only use American hardwoods— red oak, durable maple, black walnut. We estimate 98% of the material we use is produced right here in the United States, supporting domestic sawmills and sustainably harvested forests. When you run your hand over one of our chair backs or dining table edges, you feel the integrity of the natural wood, not the synthetic impersonation.
Service and Customization: Because Grandpa started this business piece by piece, we understand that furniture isn’t just transactional; it’s an emotional investment in your home. We specialize in providing that excellent product at a fair price, but with the flexibility to customize. Need a specific stain to match antique trim? Need the legs a millimeter shorter to clear a low radiator? We take the time to ensure the piece fits perfectly into your room, your life, and your vision.
The story of our business is the story of Grandpa hands: hands that learned the rhythm of farming, the work of butchering, and finally, the patient art of wood turning. Buying from us is not just buying chairs and tables; it is investing in a legacy of resilience, craftsmanship, and unwavering American dedication, built one perfectly turned leg at a time.
